shift

Troppi spoilers.

Vedrete.

James, Luciano e Simona.

We want to change things.
Just like everyone, when the end of an year is getting closer.
Sometimes you just realize you're not in the place you want to be in, or not doing what you wish to do. Like, really wish to do.
So we decided to move just a inch closer to the direction we feel might be ours, and change this project's nature. In January it will be official, but for now we can tell you this will be more of a blog and less of an involucre. Because we'll have a new involucre. Which obviously we're gonna link soon.
Way to many spoilers now.

Tutorial: fare un packaging figo

We would like to remind the customers that it  is extremely important to imagine the following instructions to be read trough the recorded automatic voice that you here in train stations.

1) Create a poster by using stencils.
1) Create un poster usando degli stencils.

2) Print the washing instructions and a card. Now, fold the t-shirt on tissue paper.

3) Fold the tissue in square shape. Fold accurately the poster around it, maintaining the shape.

4) Seal it by using a pre-made logo sticker.

5) Rest it on a persian carpet and stare at it flattering yourself about the success in the operation. Repeat the entire cycle until alcohol is needed.

Mina Ferma e Composta - Azioni Catartiche

You know Mina.
You've seen her in Awakening, she's been helping out a lot to keep the blog together, tumblr wise.
She is a cool kid, always working on something interesting, from home made t-shirts to art projects. And there is a project going on since the last couple of years, "Azioni Catartiche".
Body art with a technology twist to it, divided in acts (two, for now), black and white self portraits with organic texture.
So here is her work, out twist to it, answered (or not) questions, (unwritten) to-do list.

Thesselle: Where did you study?
Mina Ferma e Composta: Art School "Andrea Sabatini" (Salerno). Actually in Politecnico di Milano.

T: What is your occupation at the moment?
M: Fighting boredom.

T: What do you usually drink?
M: White russian.

T: Did you have a trauma?
M:  ...

T: What is it your addiction?
M: cigarettes and trichlorethylene.

T: Your favorite place?
M: None

T: A song suggestion?
M: The XX, Client, Aucan, Cristal fighters, Have a nice life, New candys, Verdena, Marie antoinette, I Cani
(last months playlist).

T: A song that really turns you off?
M: "Fa-fa-fa" from Datarock (way to many suffering awakenings)

T: The most relevant book you read in the last year?
M: "Invisible monsters" from Palahniuk and "Elogio della disarmonia" from Dorfles.

T: Sweet or salty?
M: Salty

Mina's 10 things-to-do list:
Never had it. Just the thought of having one would cause way to much anxiety. In the priorities there certainly
is to create a Third Act, move in another city and start over.

Here her Tumblr, with suggestions and inspiration.

WANTED

You should know.
A couple of weeks a go, when the post "Follow us" came out, we were going high on trichlorethylene (which frankly we're not suggesting if you don't want to have visions by night and nose bleeding) and finally, after fighting the last symptoms of schizophrenia, they are ready.

Ora, riprendetevi, so che vi state dimenando sulla sedia urlando sguaiatamente "LA VOGLIO", ma se vi calmate ve lo diciamo.
Ok, cosi.
Bene.

Now, I know it's a lot to take in and you're probably going crazy from your chair, screaming "I WANT IT" and stuff, but if you could just chill for a second we're gonna tell you.
Ok, there you go.
Fine.

Metamorfosi

Confusa, frastornata.
Come poter difendersi? Come agire?

Marina's Sketchbook

We're always interested in other people's projects.
It's almost an obsession, it's all about "who did what, how interesting, is it relevant or not". It's that feeling of respect/envy for those who are capable of something dazzling, whether they are or are not "competitors". We sensed that strongly in Four Lines, so we decided to accept those feelings and make it a healthy habit. Online we can find tons of interesting material, but it seems to be impossible to know something about the person behind the work, as if it was a picture with no credits. The undergrowth of creatives who feed this infinity of links is what we're looking foward to know, little by little.

So we asked Marina to send us her drawings, answer questions, write her to-do list.

Thesselle: Where did you study?
Marina: I graduated in Communication's Design from Politecnico di Milano, with a european exchange in France that has been kind of a turnover in terms of life changing experience. After graduating I got into a type design course and that's what I would like to do for now.

T: What is your occupation at the moment?
M: I'm working in a graphic design studio in Milan. I do a little bit of everything, the most interesting thing is probably tha packaging.

T: What do you usually drink?
M: analcoholic, water and coffee. Alcoholic, I passionately go for white wine and vodkalemon.

T: Did you have a trauma?
M: I don't think so. I can't stand the blood view, but i don't know if is it based n a trauma.

T: What is it your addiction?
M: If you mean that as a drug, it's the opinion (and approval) of those who I care about.

Runaway

we want run away in late night, without being discovered

The one thing you can't get out of severe parents: the opportunity to
sneak out at night.
There is no thrill, you're just going to say "coming back late tonight" while rushing out of the front door. Curfew would be avoided by the tutor's deep sleep and the ability to shamelessly lie the morning after. What would have been interesting to do is pretend to go to sleep, wait until the last light is out and then theatrically sidle down the window or just sneak out the front door, towards the night.
The unknown night, that something out of the ordinary, boring every day life, the never ending routine that keeps you trapped in anxiety, in week plans, in a severe parental control. To have a time to be the person you're not during the day, a space far from those eyes you can't disappoint, feel the adrenaline in your blood just imagining your father waking up and for no apparent reason checking if you're sleeping.
When your parents treat you as an adult since you become a teenager it ends up there's no need for that to happen. You don't have rules to break, so you don't really get feel like putting up a riot, because you might have nothing to stand against.

Ladykiller

top - vintage, skirt - H&M, thighs - Calzedonia, shoes - Beth Ditto for Evans

dress - vintage Ultra Dress

FOUR LINES

We got stuck in the traffic for something like one hour. And the minute we got off the car started raining.
Deluge, seriously. So we got to the exposition all wet and timid, not it the right mood for having people around us. Not in the mood for anything that wasn't a cup of hot tea watching desperate housewives on the tv, actually. Then suddenly, once we stepped in the store where the expo was, all the negativity dropped off our backs.

The place is cool and relaxed, and so was the people there. We felt cosiness all around us, while we were taking a look at the pictures on the wall. The photos were interesting, mostly because they were capturing several different ideas keeping the sense of being part of a bigger reality. It was a story, but no words were involved.
We got to Elena Vaninetti, one of the four photographers (the girl with the denim jacket):

"We chose each other on Flickr, because of our styles.
We spent months organizing the trip, defining stages and working contacts, until we jumped on a car, driving towards Denmark-Norway-Sweden, intrigued by the idea of northern atmospheres and open, wide spaces.
On the road, with polaroids as a travel journal, picturing people and landscapes.

Photos about us, about places and strangers we met.

We were often hosted by photographers. There was this one guy I was impressed about, Johan, in Sweden.

{Joahn never looks into our eyes while he talks. But he talks a lot, so fast, while he takes us at “the hotel”, where with his classmates he’s preparing an amazing photography exhibition. - from the Four Line blog}

I believe we left him kinds shocked with our italian behaviour. I mean, eight in the morning he was all ready steady go while we were still trying to get up from bed.

Norway, Lofoten Islands, never ending sunlight. There was no dawn, no darkness, just sunlight. All day, all night. We had to hang blankets as if they were curtains. A nightmare.

And we lost three cameras. One felt in the water, we grabbed it immediately, but it was too late. One died of a sudden. The other one is somewhere, in the woods. Forgotten on the car roof, we realized the loss while still driving. Andrea spent the night looking for it, alone, with no results.

{Here I am, smiling, knowing that what I came here for, what I couldn't find, will be left in this paradise. - from the Four Line blog}

Back in Italy, I almost got hit by a car. Five times. In twentyfour days I got used to the fact cars stop before crosswalks."

Here the complete blog - Four Lines
The photos are exposed from 29 april to 26 may at Coffee.N.Televisiøn.

kids

After writing about it, the “list of stuff to do” has been hunting us. Determined to appear in every conversation, even just to be mentioned, it has been bouncing between the two of us for days, in need to be vented, butchered and revolted in real life, just like a dream keeps coming back until you face it in reality.

So we decided to incorporate, every now and then, some space for it, defining the voices, those fatidic things, the stuff to do before the years pass by leaving no notice.
So this time we will talk about

- skating

Not that we never actually got on a plank. I guess we could say we wanted to go deeper, we wanted to be one of these kids who grinds and does tricks but we were lazy.
We still are.
Plus, you need to get over the fear of falling. Because if you want to be good at it, you will leave elbows and knees on the ground, or at least the skin upon them. The asphalt dig trough your flesh aiming for the joints if you're determined to become a pro. You know you are one when the crusts get better.
But most of the people doesn't put enough effort and gives up, just for the fear of falling. Of being hurt, even if it's only superficial.
In fact, we've been sitting on the ground all afternoon, taking picture of those who are willing to be hurt, in front of the central station. We are perfectly aware of the fact that we're not gonna pursuit skating, not today, not tomorrow.

So we're just gonna draw a line on this voice.
